About Us
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Cortland, Ohio, dedicated to improving the lives of animals throughout Trumbull County, Mercer County and surrounding communities. As many local families struggle with the rising cost of pet care, the need for reliable animal resources in our community has grown significantly. When pet owners do not have access to affordable food, veterinary care, or safe housing options for their animals, those animals can quickly become vulnerable, neglected, or surrendered; putting additional strain on already overburdened shelters and rescues. Our mission is to step into these gaps and provide practical, compassionate support so that pets can remain in loving homes and fewer animals end up on the streets or in crisis.
ARC provides direct support and services where they are needed most for helpless and at-risk animals. Our pet food pantry helps ease the financial burden on families, ensuring that no animal goes hungry simply because their caregiver has hit a difficult time. We offer spay/neuter clinics and programs to reduce overpopulation, prevent unwanted litters, and decrease the number of homeless cats and dogs in Trumbull County. In addition, our cat and kitten adoption rooms give homeless felines a safe, nurturing environment while they wait to find their forever homes.
By offering these resources locally, we aim to create a more humane, sustainable safety net for animals and the people who love them; one that reflects the compassion and responsibility of our community.
